Answers:
add a pint of water then re-thicken the sauce with cornflourWww@FoodAQ@Com

Throw a cut-up potato in!.
The potato will act like a sponge and soak up the salt!. Throw the potato away before serving!.

Sometimes a little lemon juice or vinegar will counter the salt!.

Cut a couple or more stalks of celery in 2" pieces and throw them in!. You can shave the outside of the celery with a potato peeler and it'll pick up the salt even faster!. Keep the fire low and stir every five minutes or so!. Taste after about 15 - 20 minutes!.

You can then scoop the celery out easily since they're in big pieces!. The celery will also soak up some of the pepper but you can add more if needed!.
Some people say celery is better because it absorbs faster and won't fall apart!!!

Good Luck!

What do you think the coversation whould be for your guests on there way home, " i aint eating from her again" "and i have to watch my blood presure too at my age"
If possible start again if you think it is TOO salty!.
If its just salty then make some rice of mash patatoe without salt in it and that should ballance the meal out!.
If you have made the rice already, then put it aside for another day and make some fresh, without salt!.
I find that the seasonings that i use in my cooking have salt in them, so i dont add any salt untill the meal is almost ready to serve if it needs any!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A whole, peeled, raw potato will draw some of the salt out!. Just sit it in the middle - but make sure to take it out at the end! a slice of bread can work too as a salt soaker-upper where the dish is quite liquidy but it's harder to do!. You have to hold it just on the surface of the liquid and let it soak up until it is saturated and take it out then!. Then you have to do it all over again with another piece!. That method is best for soups and sauces!. The potato is probably your best best today!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Prepare a dough of multipurpose flour ( of the same consistency as one you may do for preparing bread) and make 1 inch balls of these and drop them in the dish!. It will absorb all the extra salt!.

you can always add but you can't take it away *

Either:
(1) put in loads more water to dilute it, leaving it to stew for a while, and then drain off the excess!.

(2) get a takeawayWww@FoodAQ@Com
