IBS sufferers - what foods do you have to avoid - and help with a recipe for pot roast?!

Question: IBS sufferers - what foods do you have to avoid - and help with a recipe for pot roast!?
We're having a house guest this evening who has irritable bowel syndrome, and I'm not sure whether she can eat anything we've planned to have!.

I'm questioning whether I can use ingredients like cream cheese and sour cream!.!.!.!.someone told me to avoid onion, onion powder and pepper, but I honestly don't know!. There's a group of people coming so I hate not to prepare dishes which are tried and true!.!.!.!.!.but I certainly don't want to cause her problems or put out food that she's not able to eat!.

The main course we're planning is pot roast!. If I was to set some aside and prepare it for her seperately, how should I prepare it!?

If you have any recipes that you especially like, please include that in your response if you have time!. Thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The most common foods that cause symptoms to flare up are dairy products, especially cheese!. Don't serve her any fried or fatty foods either!. Onion powder is ok!. Drinks to avoid are drinks with chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, fructose, or carbonated drinks!. Ask her if she can have a glass of wine!. Or take her aside and ask what can she drink!.

POT ROAST

3-4 lbs!. of chuck roast or shoulder roast
1 tablespoon olive oil
Seasoned salt or Italian seasoning to taste
1 large onion, chopped
4 cloves of garlic, peeled
1/2 cup red wine
Several carrots and potatoes

In a dutch oven or covered pot, heat 1 tbsp of oil on medium high heat!. Rub the seasoning all over the meat!. When the pot is hot enough to sear the meat, brown the roast all over, several minutes on each side!.
When the meat is browned, lift it up and add the onions and garlic to the pot!. Let the roast sit on top of the onions!. Add 1/2 cup of red wine and simmer on low heat!.
Cook for 3 1/2 to 4 hours until meat is tender!. Add the carrots and potatoes about 1 hour before end of cooking time!.
By cooking the meat slowly, the meat will release alot of juices!. If you'd like it to be a little more thicker, add just a little flour to the juice!.
Now you need something green on the plate so I suggest either a salad or green beans!. No cheese or sauce on the green beans for your friend though!.
