Question: Are cake flour and pastry flour the same thing!?
I have a recipe that calls for cake flour, but I only have pastry flour!. Can I substitute!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hello Cicatrix,

Cake or pastry flour is made primarily from low-gluten soft wheat flour with a high starch content!. Pastry flour has a higher protein content than cake flour!. They are very similar!. If pastry flour is all you have then try it!. I don't think it will make a huge difference!.

Good Luck!

No they are different, pastry flour makes things flaky like crackers!. and flour makes things soft and spongy like cake!.

You could try it but I do not think you will get the results you wantWww@FoodAQ@Com
