I'm going to make a beef stew in a tomatoey sauce!. But I need ideas of stuff to add!. Onion soup mix!? Do you think potatoes would taste good in it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Potatoes are a must in beef stew, but that's only my opinion!. The onion soup mix is a good idea!. And you don't have to sear the meat first if you're making this in a slow cooker!. I make mine in the oven at 325 degrees for about 2 1/2 hours!. You could also add a little bit of celery for extra flavor along with the potatoes and carrots!. For a thicker gravy, add 1/2 teaspoon flour!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm going to assume your have stew meat already cut into chunks, Sear them in a saute pan to just brown!. Transfer to a pot!. Add tomato sauce and bring to a simmer!. Cover and simmer for at least an hour and a half!. Add coarse diced onions and carrots (those vegetables are a must)!. You can also add none, any or all of the following (all of them peeled and diced): potatoes, turnips, parsnips, or rhutabega!. Cook an additional hour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Add all your veggies also for a casserole!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
