Answers:
The best way is to use a pie spatula: http://www!.pastrychef!.com/PIE-SPATULA_p_!.!.!.

If you don't have one:

Cut two or three slices before trying to lift out a slice!. This gives the cake/pie enough movement that you can usually get the first slice out pretty well!.

For future pie-making endeavors, get one of these: http://www!.thekitchenstore!.com/030734045!.!.!.

Best utensil I have ever owned!. You put it in the pie pan (beneath the crust) BEFORE baking!. Removes the first slice perfectly every time! :DWww@FoodAQ@Com

Make sure you let the pie cool completely and use a pie serving utensil!. Cut the slice so that it is the same size or a little larger than the serving utensil!. The first slice might have the edge of the crust messed a little- but after that- you'll have room for all the other slices to scoot over a little before you lift it up!. You scoot it to make sure you've cut all the way through the bottom of the crust and then move the edge of the crust away from the pie plate!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Who cuts slices!? I just dive in and eat it out of the pan!

:D

Seriously, though, the best thing is to let it cool completely and make sure you cut all the way through!. If you want warm pie, reheat it after slicing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You haven't said what kind of pie it is or the shape of the pie dish!.
If it is a meat pie in a rectangular pan, cut through, ensuring you cut the bottom crust, and ease away from the sides!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Let cool and use a serrated knife to get a nice clean cut, then carefully take a piece out with a pie server!. Be careful not to loose the tip of the piece of pie in the process!Www@FoodAQ@Com

let cool completly and use a sharp knife to cut and pie knife to get out
