Is it true that you can just use a can of soda with cake mix instead of eggs/water/etc?!
I read some post that said something like, just mix a can of diet coke with any chocolate cake box mix and it turns out perfect and to use orange soda with white cake mix!.
Has anyone tried this!?!?!? Does it work!? I want to try but first I have to buy cake mix and soda haha!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

We make the cupcakes!. Just one cake mix (your choice) and one sugarfree can of soda (your choice)!.!.!.mix it all together!.!.!.no eggs oil or anything else!

Coca-Cola Cake
Cake
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups small marshmallows
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup Coca-Cola
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
3 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons Coca-Cola
1 box (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees!. In a bowl, sift sugar and flour!. Add marsh- mallows!. In
saucepan, mix butter, oil, cocoa, and Coca-Cola!. Bring to a boil and pour over dry
ingredients; blend well!. Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk just before adding to
batter along with eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well!. Pour into a well-greased 9-
by-13-inch pan and bake 35 to 45 minutes!. Remove from oven and frost
immediately!.
To make frosting, combine butter, cocoa and Coca-Cola in a saucepan!. Bring to a
boil and pour over confectioners' sugar, blending well!. Add vanilla extract and
pecans!. Spread over hot cake!. When cool, cut into squares and serve!.

I've never done this with cake mix, but let me tell you, 7up makes my waffles nice and fluffy!
ETA: to add to Maggie A's answer, if you try diet, use one containing Splenda!. Aspartame (NutraSweet) and saccharin (do they still even put that in soda that's not Tab!?) won't stand up to the heat of your oven quite as well!. Plus, aspartame converts to formaldehyde in your body!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Baking is like chemistry, you need the correct ingredients in the correct amount or the recipe will not work as intended!. A good cookbook will tell you what you can substitute if you don't have certain ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, you can!. I've tried it!. It turns out fine!. It has a good taste, but it is a bit dryer than if you used oil, or eggs!. It's quick and it's easy!. I used diet coke with a chocolate cake mix!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

right if you use a light colored cake mi x - white or yellow - use a light colored soda - 7 up or lemon lime or maybe fresca (ew)
