Jen's answer above is correct!. When you use a butter substitute like Smart Balance, however, you need to keep in mind that the product has a higher water content than regular margarine or butter!. I've found that my muffins or cookies tend to be dry if I depend solely on the Smart Balance for moisture and taste!. Adding a tablespoon of a neutral oil, such as canola or almond, will help make your muffins or cookies moister!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do you mean 1 1/2 sticks!?

1 and 1/2 sticks is 12 ounces of butter or margarine which is equal to 12 tablespoons!.

The container holds 32 tablespoons so you need a little less than half of the container!. I would measure it out in tablespoons IF you don't have a kitchen scale!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't most recipes call for butter or margarine!? If there's a major difference they should tell you!. You can check on line for baking tips/emergencies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are 8 tablespoons in a stick!. But I'm NOT sure you can use the whipped kind in the tub as a substitute!
