Answers:
You can deep fry anthing you want to, there are tons of batters out there and I'm sure you will get a lot of great answers here!. Pretty much the magic number for frying is 350 degrees!.
Here area couple I have used in the past and still use!.!.!.

Beer batter-

Approx 2 cups flour-I don;t measure it anymore adn I'm thinking it was about 2 cups
1 light palm full sugar
1 tsp salt
1 beer-if you drink beer then what ever you drink as long as it's a light beer, or just Bud, bid light, coors etc!.!.!.!.

Mix the dry ingreddients then slowly add the beer whisking constantly until you get the consistency you want!. I like a batter with a medium thickness to it!. You can add more beer if you need to or if you are out then add a splash or 2 of water!. If you need to thicken it just sprinkle in some flour and whis well!.

Dip watever you are frying (shrimp, veggies, pickles, other fish, beef/chicken/pork, etc!.!.!. in plain or even seasoned flour first then into the wet batter!. This will help the batter stick to the item of choice and not run off as it fries !. With a wet batter gently wipe the bottom on the egde of the bowl then lower each piece one by one!. Hold on to it as long as possible (about 10 seconds) then release to help keep from sticking to the bottom of the fryer!.

Tempura-it comes in a dry mix that all you have to do is add water!. This is a good atter for deep fried banana's even baked potatoes, and of course shrimp and so on!. Wipe this on edge of the bowl as above and hold it too!.

You can just season flour however you want depending on what you are making and also on your taste!.

Flour for frying chicken or making you own chicken strips!.

8 cups flour
2 tbsp poultry seasoning
2 tbsp onion salt or even onion powder
2 tbsp celery salt
2 tbsp white pepper
2 1/2 tbsp salt

Mix well and set up a 2 bowl station!. One with really cold water!. Drop a few ice cubes in it if you want!. And one with the flour mix (not all of the flour you just made up though)!. Dip the chicken in water, then the flour then water again and then flour again and drop in the fryer!. 15 mintues is the key for fried chicken and about 3-5 for chicken strips!. And also another tip for when you do a dry flour breading if you do a lot chicken is to sift the flour after every 6-8 pieces of flour!. Otherwise you will get lump on the chicken and they turn very hard and that is very very yucky!. Keep using the water even as it gets thicker with the flour, it will result in a yummy crust!. Any left over flour should be tossed!.

Use bread crumbs or panko (Japanese bread crumbs) that have been seasoned!.

Or bake up some chicken wings at 350 degrees for about 20-30 min or until the juice run clear!. Either drop into the fryer right way or let cool and put into baggies and keep in the fridge or freezer (thaw before use though) and then fry!. This makes a nicely done chicken (You don't have to worry about raw inside and over cooked inside this way) wirth a crisp skin!. Toss in hot sauce or a honey soy sauce

1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 terriyaki sauce
3 tbsp butter
1/2 tbsp grated fresh ginger
1/2 tbsp seseme oil

Heat in a small sauce pan and then toss the chicken wings in a little bit of this and then keep anyleft over in an airtight conatiner in the fridge!.

There are also cornmeal breadings but I have never made or used them so I can't help you there!.

Make your own chicken fried steak using cubed steak and doing as I said for the chicken with the same breading and everything and either deep or pan fry it!. Serve with gravy mashed taters and a veggie!.

Thinly slice potatoes and fry potatoes and make your own chips!.

Make your own frech fries bt thinly slcing a potato then slice the slices to get sticks!. Drop once for about 30-60 seconds!. Pull the basket up and let it drain and cool for a afew minutes!. There will be no color on the fries yet!. Once they have cooled and drained then drop them again until nice and crispy!.

You can make sweet potato fries as well, but cook the sweet potato in the microwave for about 3-4 min first!. The peel will come off very easily and then let it cool and then slice into fries!. Then drop in the fryer!. Or you can buy sweet potato fries in some markets in the freezer section!. Just becareful with sweet potatoes as they burn very easily and then turn bitter!.

Make your own tortilla chips!. Cut plain or flavored tortilla chips into triangles or strips and drop in the fryer!. When they are crispy and brown remove, drain and let out on paper towels, sprinkle with seasoned salt and enjoy!.
Wrap a plain choc bar (Hersheys or whatever) in a torilla!. Secure with a tooth pick and drop into the fryer!. Remove and drain when the tortilla turns golden brown!. Sprinklw ith powdered sugar and enjoy!.

Something very important for anykind of oil you use!. After using strain thru a greese filter and then in an airtight container in a cool dark place!. Frying out can get expensive so the longer you can keep it good the better for your pocket book and for the taste of your food!.

also remove all excess water from the product first (like when you make french fries or chips) the oil wil spit and carry on when there is water in it, and the water will make the oil go bad faster!.

My last tip is do not season foods over the oil, or refry foods that have been seasoned after removing from oil It will ruin the oil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can make a batter by using a half can of beer with about a cup or so of flour and an egg stir and bread!.!.or use flour, egg, seasoned salt or salt and pepper and a touchof baking soda about a quarter teaspoon!.!.you can dip into na egg mixed wihth just a tad of water and scrambled, and then dipped in Italian bread crumbs!.!.Buttermilk dip and then flour dip then do it again and fry I use salt and pepper or whatever in the batter to taste!.!.
Chicken needs about 20 minutes depending on pieces!.!.onion rings or frys about 8 have fun!.!.Temp about 375Www@FoodAQ@Com

sara, the types of food are almost endless, mushrooms@400degs, or, some mozzerella sticks @ 375, or of course things like fish, 375, and veggies(varied temps), the best batters are like some fish batters that you buy in the stores or even some pancake batter made a little thick!. season it and coat the fish or whatever youre cooking and then make sure your oil is hot!. Bon appitite!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need to read instructions well on deep fryer - it will tell you roughly how long to set the timer for!. Light should come on to show when it's hot enough to fry!. Potatoes sliced into chips are yummy deep fried, so are doughnuts!. There should be a recipe book comes with the fryer - if not contact manufacturer and ask for one!. Keep it clean, if poss, and near a window for ventilation!. Frying smell can be strong! Have fun - I loved my fryer and I think I used it so much it died on me! Www@FoodAQ@Com

The food, in which micro organisms can live easily and come in easily, should be deeply fried so that the heat can stop the growth of micro organisms in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
