When pan frying a steak do I add fat to the pan?!

Question: When pan frying a steak do I add fat to the pan!?
I have never tried to cook a steak before - the ones that I have are thin (1/8 inch) beef tip steaks!. I was just going to fry them up to serve with eggs and american fries!.!.!.!.

The package only says to cook over high heat in a preheated skillet for 2-3 minutes before turning once!. Alright, I understand that part - but would you suggest that I add fat to the pan!? or perhaps a seasoning!?

What would you do in this case!?

Let me know whatcha think

ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

I always fry my steaks with butter and a little tuscan seasoning!. I read somewhere but can't remember where that the butter both adds flavor and makes the meat a little softer by not completely robbing/depleating it of it's natural fat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Even though some fat will eventually melt off the steak and into the pan, it is likely that the steak will stick to the pan before that happens!. So it is a good idea to put in just a little fat - preferably butter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, start with a little oil or margarine in the pan!. Then season one side, fry and turn, season other side!.
I use salt and pepper, garlic powder, a bit of paprika!. If you like it a bit spicy, use cayenne instead of black pepper!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do not add anything, except salt and pepper!. You want to put a good sear on the steak!. Make sure the pan is on medium to high heat!. When you put the steak in you should hear it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would just add a drizzle of oil!.
Schnitzel only takes a few minutes to cook and is easily overcook and will be like leather, and then require long slow cooking to become tender againWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, Plus steak also has natural fat comming from a cow!. You can't escape it!. Baked!. Fried!.Broiled!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, use butter or olive oil or both as olive oil has a higher smoke point!. The butter gives steak a nice flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

my dad used to cook steaks a lot like that!. He told me that he used a lot of butter in the pan instead of fat or pam,!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
