Vanilla substitute in Chocolate frosting?!

Question: Vanilla substitute in Chocolate frosting!?
I'm making a chocolate frosting mix that needs vanilla in it, but we don't have any more vanilla! Is there any substitute for vanilla that I can use, or do you know a chocolate frosting recipe that doesn't have the use of vanilla in it!? Thanks! Any help is appreciated!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Vanilla is such a subtle flavor, whereas chocolate is pretty dominate, I think you will be fine without adding it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It will be a little bland without the vanilla but you could just skip it or use a nut extract like some of the other answers have said!. Peppermint extract would be really good also, if it goes with the cake you made!. A liqueur like amaretto or grand marnier would be good also (ask your parents first if you're underage)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The vanilla is not necessarily needed; you could replace it with almond extract or if you have any, Orange Juice - chocolate and orange are a wonderful combination and would give your cake a something extra special subtable taste that would be most pleasing!.

Instead of vanilla, you could replace the liquid with brewed coffee!. Or retain the liquid and add 1 tsp of instant coffee!. Either way, it gives the chocolate a rich flavor and cuts the sweetness a bit, without tasting like coffee!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can get by without the vanilla!. Vanilla adds a lot of depth to the frosting and takes away some of the tanginess!. (Tangy isn't always good on a cake!)

You can put a LITTLE almond extract but I think you might as well skip it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you don't use vanilla, I would suggest a nut extract (almond or hazelnut) or just omit it!. Consider the flavor you would be adding to your finished dish!. for example, i would not normally replace vanilla with a lemon extract!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had to use "almond extract" in place of "vanilla extract" for a fudge recipe once and everybody said it was the best ever fudge!. It would work in the frosting, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can ignore the vanilla with no problem when it comes to frosting!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vanilla is NOT an necessary ingredient!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
