yes you can, but usually when a recipe calls for sesame oil it's needed more for taste than actually frying!. sesame oil has a very low smoking point so you generally don't want to sauté with that alone!.
your dish will turn out with a main flavoring ingredient missing, but im sure it will still taste fine!. maybe saute with olive oil and then sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds over it to help replace the flavor of the missing sesame oil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it is not a good substitute for sesame oil because sesame oil is used for FLAVOR and not for any other reason (ie!. frying)!.
You can sprinkle on some sesame seeds to get a similar flavor!.
Skip the olive oil because it will give the dish an decidedly UN-Asian flavor!
You will just have to omit the sesame oil this time, I suppose!. The flavor won't be spot on, but it will be better than changing the flavor completely with olive oil!.
Trust me on this, I am Asian and I cook a lot!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sesame isn't really to COOK in, it's more for flavor!. It's kinda expensive, but you only use a touch of it, so it lasts a long time!. It will give your stir-fry a true authentic Asian flavor!. If you choose to Buy some, store it in the fridge, or it could go rancid!.
If you can't afford it, then just do your stir fry in whatever oil you have on hand!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sesame oil, even a couple drops of it, can completely change the taste of a dish!. You have to use sesame oil!.
Just try to buy the tiniest bottle you can!. It goes rancid, so put it in the fridge or give it away if you don't plan on using it often!.
