Can you use yeast instead of baking powder for a fried donut recipe?!

Question: Can you use yeast instead of baking powder for a fried donut recipe!?
Answers:
The texture and consistency of the finished product isn't going to be moist and spongy like that of donuts and cake, and it's going to be more like that of bread and taste a bit drier!. Shouldn't come out badly, just different!. But unlike with baking powder which rises the dough during frying/baking, the yeast must be given time to rise beforehand (an hour or two)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The recipes for yeast raised donuts and cake type donuts are different, the taste is different, and the texture is different!.

You CANNOT simply substitute yeast for the baking powder!. These leaveners work in entirely different manners!.

Yeast is composed of the spores of living creatures!. For use, they must be properly bloomed in warm (105* - 115* F) water, along with sugar or honey!. After adding the bloomed yeast to the dry ingredients, and forming a dough, you must permit the dough to rise!. Roll out the dough, cut the donuts, permit more rising time and then fry!.

You really need to find a yeast donut recipe if you don't have, or don't want to use baking powder!.

FWIW, I detest the taste and texture of cake donuts!. I won't eat them and I won't cook them!. I only eat and make yeast donuts!.

Absolutely not!. Baking powder reacts as soon as it mixes with wet ingredients and yeast needs to develop in warm water and then have time to rise!.

Besides the fact that it won't rise the same, the taste will be affected a great deal as will the texture!. You will probably end up just tossing out your product!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
