Can you make your own vanilla sugar?!

Question: Can you make your own vanilla sugar!?
I do NOT have any vanilla beans!. Can you add vanilla extract to white sugar to make vanilla sugar!? (I looked at the ingredients for vanilla sugar: dextrose, artificial flavor!. Yuck!.) I need it for making Creme Brulee (for the first time) thanks so much!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Try putting some granulated sugar into a little zip-lock baggie with a drop or 2 of pure vanilla extract (maybe about 1 c sugar)!. Seal tightly and shake and knead the bag until the sugar is coated and separated!. You can also do this with a drop or 2 of food coloring, to make colored sugar for sprinkling on things:)Www@FoodAQ@Com

1 vanilla bean, whole or scraped
2 cups granulated sugar

If vanilla bean is whole, slice down side of bean with back of knife and scrape seeds into airtight container with the sugar!. Bury bean in sugar and seal tightly with lid!. Let sit for 1 to 2 weeks!. Use as regular, granulated sugar!.

Nope, you can't use the extract to make vanilla sugar!. Since you need it now, just put in the normal amount of sugar and then a small splash of vanilla extract!. To make vanilla sugar itself you have to put vanilla beans in sugar and let it sit there for weeks!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can add vanilla extract for your recipe as it is going to be cooked, but for making natural vanilla sugar for next time - just get some vanilla pods and store them in an airtight jar with the sugar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
