Answers:
Maybe your batter wasn't moist enough!. Are you following a recipe or is this a boxed cake mix!?

If it's falling apart maybe you should add another egg!. Egg is what binds dry ingredients together in a recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Too tender; falls apart
1!.Too little water
2!.Too much shortening Www@FoodAQ@Com

I assume you are making your own batter and not a box mix!. are you following a recipe!? and if so what kind of flour are you using!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

What kind of cake!? Box, scratch, pound, sponge, layer!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
