Question: I am about 1/4 cup short of granulated sugar for a recipe that calls for 1-1/2 cups sugar!.!.!.!?
Can I use a little bit of powdered sugar to make up for it!? Or brown sugar!? I was thinking that might change the taste a bit!. I also have apple sauce!. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! THANKS! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Just leave the 1/4 cup out!. It won't affect your recipe/bake time at all!. Your cake will be just a smidge less sweet!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you'll be fine to just use what you have, it just might not be quite as sweet but 1/4 cup is not a lot and i don't think it will make a big difference!. Brown sugar may work but powdered sugar won't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

brown sugar would work perfectly here! and it gives the pastry/sweet a VERY nice home-ey taste in my oppinion! it just sweetes the deal! i wouldnt use powdered sugar though!. you could try it if you wanted!
good luck it sounds delish!

Brown sugar should work fine, and be a better substitute than powdered sugar, for yellow cake!. Apple sauce can be a substitute for oil!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

brown sugar would be the better option!.!.!.powder sugars normally have cornstarch added,,,Www@FoodAQ@Com

either brown sugar or forget about the 1/4 cup it wont change the recipeWww@FoodAQ@Com

It really depends on what the recipie is for!. Post a little more info so we can help out!.
