When I was 13 or so, I managed to catch the kitchen on fire!. I didn't know that you aren't supposed to try to panfry anything with olive oil at a high heat!. It has a low flash point!. I got the fire extinguisher and managed to put it out (accidentally spraying my face in the process!.) The fire extinguisher made such a huge mess, but luckily there was no real damage from the fire!. I was slightly hysterical at that point!. My mom took pity on me and helped me clean it up!. We realized later that the computer in the dining room had its webcam recording and it caught the whole thing!. I deleted it when youtube became popular though! Don't wanna risk that!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Naturally her Mom said "you want to wash it well inside and out" So!.!.!.she did!. Then she roasted it as per her moms instructions!. Oh, the things we take for granted that everyone knows!.!.!.but really may not! So the story goes!.!.!. my Step-Mom used dish soap and water to wash the Turkey out, cooked it w/ all the gizzards etc inside and roasted it breast side down!! Needless to say she cooked better Turkey's in her later years!. I know because I have been privileged to taste some of her best!Www@FoodAQ@Com

This probably isn't YouTube worthy but this is for real!. A lady I worked with gave me some small broccoli plants to put in my garden!. As the plants grew, I saw little green worms on the stalks so I would pick them off every time I tended my garden!. Finally the day came to harvest!. I looked the broccoli over and didn't see any small green worms so I cut up the broccoli, put it in a zip-lock bag and froze it (I know I was supposed to blanch it but thought I could get away with just freezing it)!. So, the day came to use the broccoli, my grandmother came for dinner!. I was busy talking and preparing dinner!. I poured the zip-lock bag of broccoli into boiling water and cooked the broccoli!. Then, with the lid on, I poured the hot water off the broccoli, added my butter and black pepper and scooped it into a bowl and put it on the table!. I was the last person to get the broccoli!. My grandmother was served first (company is always served first)!. She took her broccoli and saw a small green worm so quietly slipped it into her paper napkin without making a peep!. It worked around the table to my son and then my husband!. He looked at the broccoli and said to himself "Oh! She cooked it with bacon bits!!" He was excited about that!. But once he got it on his plate, he realized his bacon bits had FEET!! By that time it made it around to me, I took one look in the bowl and we all tossed the broccoli!. To this day I hear about the bacon with feet when we have broccoli and company!.
Another blooper I had was when trying a new recipe from a very old cookbook!. The recipe was called Dr!. Zabdiel Boylston's Honeycomb Pudding!. It is molasses-based and when cooked and cut, it looks like a honeycomb!. It's served with a nice pudding sauce!. I thought it would be interesting to try!. But, again talking, I forgot to put in the eggs!. Now this thing, when it cooks, it bubbles and bubbles to make the honeycomb appearance!. Mine bubbled and bubbled and bubbled out of the pan like Mount Vesuvius and formed a "cone" on the bottom of the oven, getting larger and larger!. When I took it out of the oven, the whole thing went back to pure liquid form - didn't set up or anything!. Haven't tried it since but remain curious nonetheless!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
