Which is the BEST apple for apple pie?!

Question: Which is the BEST apple for apple pie!?
Answers:
I use Granny Smith because they are a little tart but with the sugar they are heavenly!. They also have a perfect crunch!.

here's a tip I LOVE to do:
Slice the apples very thin (not too thin where they have no bite) This way, it seems as if you have put hundreds of apples into the pie and when you cut it open they just pour out!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use the golden delicious and red delicious, they seem together make the pie juicy and has that good sweet apple pie flavor, but since I make sugar free pies, they taste a little different, no sugars!.!.!.!.!.

and then I top off with rome apples for the last 30 mnis of baking, they give it the rounded flavor!.

this reminds me - i seriously had a dream about eating a lot of apple pie last night! i had totally forgotten about it, and haven't had a real one in years :) thnx!.

But to answer your question, I think Granny Smith because they are very firm and don't get too soft or soggy when baking!. It leaves a nice texture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi, in my experience the answer is: Granny Smiths, as they are called in the UK, or Renette, as they are called in Europe!.
These are golden-skinned apples, slightly floury in texture and of a slightly tarty taste, When cooked, they release a most delicious flavor and smell!. Mmmhhh!.!.!.:-)))Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chetco!.!.!. try a little experiment!.!.!.!. get a pie crust and a few disposable pie tins!.!.!. the little ones!.!.!.

green!.!.they don't mush when cooked!.!.
cook the bottom pie crust a tad t!.!.light light golden just to firm up!.
add apple mixture and cover with pie crust!.
Cover up all edges of the pie with foil so the edges don't burn while cooking!.
When you take the foil off when its done the edges are not burnt!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not too sure on this!.!.!. However with a little a research, a Gravenstein appears to be the best!.!.!. I hope that your pie turns out good :)!. I like Pie!. Gravensteins aren't that sweet, so a touch of honey or a sprinkle of sugar could go well with that!.!. Good Luck! Www@FoodAQ@Com
