Biscuits and Gravy, healthy crockpot?!
I would like to make a healthy biscuit and gravy recipe!. I was thinking about using my crockpot for some sausage and the gravy!. But I am a man, so keep it simple!.
Here are my ideas so far:
1) Try to find some easy whole Wheat Biscuits if they exist!.
2) Put a whole package of some form of sausage in the pot!.
3) Make a gravy out of cream of mushroom, cream cheese, and pepper!?

Cooking food in a crock pot does not make it healthier!. You could probably modify it though by using turkey sausage, reduced fat/sodium cream of mushroom soup and low fat or fat free cream cheese and reduced fat biscuits!. It's a fairly quick dish to make so you wouldn't even need a crock pot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Whole wheat biscuits are gong to be very dense (think hockey puck), trust me I've tried it!. As far as trying to put it in the crock pot!.!.!. well, there's a few problems with that!. First, the sausage won't brown, the gravy is usually make from a roux using the grease from the sausage and if you mixed sausage and/or cream of mushroom soup and cream cheese you'd have a very greasy "gravy"!.
Making biscuits and gravy is relatively easy and quick to make, especially if you used refrigerated biscuits!. Even if you don't, if doesn't take more than a half hour!. If you need help with the recipe, e-mail me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
