Believe it or not, it all started with an Easy Bake Oven when I was a very young kid! I used to help my mom in the kitchen all the time and it just progressed into a love of cooking!. I'm actually not in the restaurant business anymore because of having several jobs that I was just treated like a piece of meat, no pun intended, and it finally got to me and I went to my other passion!. I'd definitely do a little more research before I started a job at a new restaurant and get to know the people I work with a little better before just jumping into it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was a chef for over 20+ years and worked in Canada were I am from, and travelled to Jamaica, Singapore and Japan with a hotel chain, so here is my answers to your question!.

1!. I went to a trade based high school here in Canada back in the 1970's, we had a food service course with baking and cooking for the staff/students, I liked it and decided to try it out!.

2!. My first job was locally, working for my high school girlfriend Cathy's father at there roadside hamburger joint in the summer months!.

3!. I have retired a few years back, because I have arthritis in my knees and hips, from the 10-12 hour days as a sous chef in 4-5 star hotels and a number of upscale restaurants!.

4!. Change!?, well I would have taken better care of myself, being tall, 6' 5" and weighing over 300 pounds most of my adult life, most people mistook me player for a football player, but the long hours on hard cement floors, the constant pressure on my knees and back are what did me in, plus being as big as a small bus did not help!. It also kept me from having a relationship and getting married, so in a way I saved some young lady from having to endure me for a lifetime!.

5!. Yes very much, I just wish that the internet had been invented 10 years before it was so I could have kept in contact with more of my chef friends, I have a group of 6-10 I still e-mail, and that is why I have chosen to give my advice and help here on Yahoo Answers, as a service to those who wish help and need a friendly word to aid them with the meals and preparations!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I followed the best advice I was ever given when looking for a career!. Do something you enjoy! I enjoy cooking very much!. You should go to school and try to do something like a "intership" at a well known resuraunt in another country!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
