Can edible rice paper go in an oven?!
Ok i was chatting with my friends after i made some cupcakes and we were saying how cool would it be if you could just eat the cupcake without taking the paper off!. So we thought rice paper! But then none of us could work out or find out if edible rice paper can be used in the oven as Cupcake Patty Pans!. Can they!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

The trouble with the rice paper is that once moisture hits it, the dehydrated rice starch returns to it's pre-dehydrated state!.!.!. wet mass of mush!.
So you put that cupcake batter into the theoretical cupcake pans lined with rice paper and before the heat of the oven even takes efffect, you end up with the moisture effect of the rice starch mush underneath which would be like GLUE to the bottom of the cupcake tin and you'd never get the little creature out!.
But what a clever girl you are to consider that!. I wonder if an edible shellac could be applied to the rice paper liner to semi-waterproof it!. It would take some doing to make just the right thickness to resist the liquid of the batter while it steamed and cooked solid, and yet not be some gummy attrocity in one's mouth!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
