this is what every1 told me "JUST PUT IT ALL IN TOGETHER"

i prefer to fry mince off till its brown so do that put in smallish potatoes also cut washed carrots onions and anything else you want it put in 3 pints of water, cold water keeps everything fresher then add stock cubes i normally put in 3 to make it think then keep on boil for a few hours you can tell when its done coz the potatoes are soft

hope that helps Www@FoodAQ@Com

fry the chopped onions in a little oil, you can do this in the saucepan you are using for the stew;
when onions are soft add the mince with and a couple of stock cubes and a little flour to thicken and cook until browned, mixing now and then, heat not too high,
add all the other veg!. chopped and add just enough water to cover ingredients, simmer on a low heat, stirring occasionally, for about an hour, until veg!. are tender!.

edit; you don't need to stew mince for hours like you do for general cuts of meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pound of minced beef
pinch of salt and pepper
1/4 garlic powder
1/4 ground rosemary and thyme
1 egg lightly beaten
1 piece of dry bread lightly toasted, crushed and crumbled into fine crumbs!.

Lightly mix everything together except the bread crumbs with two forks (keeps your hands out of the meat)!.
Add the bread crumbs and mix a little more!.
Now form little meatballs!.
Put a large pot on medium heat!. When the pot gets warm add a little oil to the bottom of the pot and carefully add the meatballs, don't crowd them!. Let them get brown on the bottom before you try to move them, otherwise they stick!.
Turn the meatballs so they brown on all sides and then remove from the pot and set them aside!.

Add a tablespoon oil to the pot the meatballs came out of, add a tablespoon of white flour to the oil and whisk until smooth!. Then let this cook over a low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring with the whisk often!.

When the flour mixture starts to bubble and get brown, add a two cups of water, whisking quickly!. Be careful, it will splash and steam!.

Turn the heat up and add your stock cubes!. Two should do it!.
Whisk some more, it should thicken now and be simmering!. Taste it and add a bay leaf, a pinch or two of garlic powder, rosemary and thyme!.
Add your vegetables and let it simmer about 20 minutes and then add your meatballs!. Taste and adjust the season at this time!.

I would brown the meat first in a bit of good olive oil, then brown the vegetables in the same pot!. Use hot water to deglaze the pan and then add your stock cubes and set aside to simmer on low for a few hours!. During the last hour of cooking is when I'd add seasonings and then during the last half hour I'd taste-test and adjust seasonings accordingly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
