Yeah you can over mash taters, and when you do that they end up like glue!.
First drian the taters well!. Then mash with a hand masher or electric mixers until you get the desired sommthness/lumpiness!. Then slowly fold in butter, seassonings, and milk or dairy of choice!.You may need to reheat them just a but but they will be soooooooo good this way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Over mashed potatoes can become glue, literally it's been used as wallpaper paste!. The starch in the potato breaks down and they really become disgusting!. If you're using a hand masher then over stirring as you mash can do this!. If you're using an electric or bowl mixer it's much easier to do!. When mashing potatoes the easiest way to avoid over mashing into glue is to mash the potatoes smooth before you add anything to them!. Cream, butter, milk, cheese, whatever!.!.!.after they are 95% the consistency you want them to be!. The final few seconds of mixing and mashing can be used to add ingredients!. Remember to taste them before you add anything to check for salt and pepper as even stirring that in can cause them to become gummy!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you over mash potatoes then the starch in them breaks down and becomes bland gloopy and tasteless!.
Try mash potato made in a blender and it's like eating glue!.
Best mash potatoes come out of a potato ricer, which kind of looks like a giant garlic press!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it can turn gloopy and like glue if you mash it to much!. if you want it really smooth without over doing it mash it a little bit then push it through a metel sieve!. it leaves it lovely and smooth without the glue effect!. try itWww@FoodAQ@Com
No, you can not overmash a potato!. The just become creamier!. If you like you potatoes to be a little lumpy then over-mashing is possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, you can overmash potatoes, they become gummy, and nasty!. Don't ever use a food processor for making them!. The old fashioned hand masher does a great job!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Oh, you bet!
Those starches do NOT like to be overly disturbed! They start to stick together and form one big inedible pile of doggy do-do if ya overwork 'em!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. It will become gluey and feel horribly in the mouth!. You should never "mash" potatoes in a food processor!. It will just go like this!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, I put them in the mixer once and they went sort of gloopy, like wallpaper paste, but still edible - fried in butter with onion and parsley!.

Yeah!. I hate it when someone makes mashed potatoes and they mash them too much so then they become all soupy and disgusting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yep, if you are heavy handed with adding with either milk or butter then you end up with potato soup!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you over mash them they come out like "Smash" - a mixture suitable only for use as wallpaper glue!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Iguess so - if they are over soggy in the first place!. Otherwise, smooth soft fluffy mash is wonderful!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Never! The mashier the better!Www@FoodAQ@Com
