3 eggs
1/2 cup castor sugar or superfine sugar
2/3 cup self-rising flour

What You Do
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)!. Grease an 8 or 9 inch round cake pan!.
In a medium bowl, whip together the eggs and castor sugar until fluffy!. Fold in flour!. Pour into the prepared pan!.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top of the cake springs back when lightly pressed!. Cool in the pan over a wire rack!.

PLAIN SPONGE CAKE

Things You’ll Need:

* Oil
* Small tube pan
* 3 large eggs, separated
* 3 bowls (1 mixing, 2 small)
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 tsp!. vanilla
* 4 tbsp!. water
* 1 cup flour
* 1 tsp!. baking powder
* Electric beater
* Cake platter
* Sliced strawberries (optional)
* Whipped cream (optional)

Step1
Oil a small tube pan!. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F!.
Step2
Separate the egg yolks into a mixing bowl and set the whites aside in a separate bowl!. Beat the egg yolks, sugar and vanilla extract together until they're light and fluffy, then add the water!.
Step3
Sift the flour in to a small bowl!. Add the baking powder, and sift the mixture again!. Stir the flour mixture into the egg and sugar mixture and mix until blended!.
Step4
Beat the egg whites with an electric beater until they're stiff and fold them into the sponge cake batter!.
Step5
Pour the sponge cake batter into the oiled pan and bake it in the preheated oven for 30 minutes!.
Step6
Allow the sponge cake to cool complete before removing it from the pan!. Invert the cooled cake onto a cake platter!.
Step7
Slice the sponge cake and serve it with the strawberries and whipped cream, or any other toppings!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

175g unsalted butter
175g caster sugar
3 Eggs, beaten
175g self-raising flour


1!. Set the oven to 180C/gas 4!. Lightly butter two sandwich tins, each with a diameter of 20cm!.

2!. Cream together the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, and then slowly add the beaten egg!.

3!. Fold in the sifted flour and spoon the mixture into the prepared cake tins!.

4!. Bake for 20 minutes!. Leave to cool and then remove from the tins!.
