What are some good things to take to family friends?!
A close family friend has just lost her husband to cancer!. two of her sons are home with her, and they have their children and spouses there (small children) and one of her sons is on his way home from afghanistan!. what can i take to them to help them out!? i was thinking about taking something "kid friendly" for the little ones to have to eat!. also, i wrote on the sympathy card that i would love to have the children over to play anytime they needed a break, because i have three children of my own as well, i think if i just lost my father i might like it if someone were available to keep an eye on the kids for an hour or so!. is that alright!? what can i take over to help out with meals!? any ideas!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

bake a dessert or make some lasagnaWww@FoodAQ@Com
anything that does not require more than a reheat to make a dinner out of it - besides what others said, I would add to that home made mac and cheese - a pot roast with carrots and potatoes - etc -
also - whatever you bring should be taken over in a disposable container - they make very inexpensive tupperware type containers now - pack it in there so that the family doesn't have to worry about returning plates
for the kids, brownies or cookies are good - maybe even a platter of cold cuts and cheeses - a fruit basket or fruit salad is always good as well
