How Do You Make Meatloaf Less Greasy?!
I love the spices that I add to meatloaf, but I hate the grease surrounding it after it is finished cooking!. Do you know of a way to pour the grease off as the meatloaf cooks so that it won't be swimming in grease!? Do you use a special type of pan to let the grease drip off!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are special meatloaf pans that you can buy!. They have an insert that goes inside the loaf pan, so the grease drains out and stays on the bottom; lift the insert tray out to serve!. But, you can also make it on a baking sheet (with sides) too!. Baking it in a plain loaf pan keeps the grease right next to the meatloaf!.!.!.!.!.!. I've actually switched ti 96/4 ground sirloin, which has hardly any fat at all (4%), and is considered heart healthy!. If you use oatmeal as the filler, then it's really healthy too! There's virtually no grease in a regular loaf pan with that!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I do a few things to lessen the grease!. First use the leanest ground beef you can find!. The problem with this alone is that your meatloaf will be a brick if you don't add some fat so to fix this I add some ground pork on a three to one ratio!. 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef to 1/2 pound of ground pork!. Add the rest of your ingredients and cook in a bread pan on top of a rack!. Once it has finished cooking!. Remove from pan, pour off the fat, return to pan, pour on the glaze and broil for 5 minutes to cook the glaze!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
make your meatloaf with lean beef and lean pork!.
Add bread crumbs also
The bread crumbs and leaner meat will prevent the greasy meatloaf!.
since you are using leaner meat you sacrifice some flavour so season the meat well!.
to test you seasoning cook a small piece of meat in a pan of microwave
I also add a little bit of ketchup/ catsup that gives a little tang to the meat loaf

I use 1 pound each of 96% fat free beef and 98% fat free turkey!. An egg to bind along with bread crumbs and add your favorite spices!. The beef and turkey make a healthy and tasty combination!.
Some people like adding butter or lard which is self defeating in the fat department!. Do not add any additional fat!.

There are, indeed, special pans which hold the meat loaf out of the grease!. Many are available online under "cookware," but you might also find one locally if you have a specialty cookware outlet nearby!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I suggest using the highest grade of beef possible!. Possibly something with 98% ground beef!. The higher the percentage the less grease you will have to contend with!.
