As far as cookbooks go, you can't go wrong with a classic, The Joy of Cooking!. It covers a lot of easy recipes most anyone can do well on the first try!. And then, look for any cookbook by Julia Child!. Visit any reasonably big bookstore or borrow from the public library so you can "try before you buy"!. Julia Child had a way of making complex recipes simple to understand by the amateur who wants to try something a bit more exotic!. Recipe for creamy chicken soup!.!.!.
2 med!. potatoes, cut into 16 pieces
1 c!. celery, sliced
2 c!. carrots, cut-up
1 lg!. onion, cut in chunks
1 tsp!. sage
Pepper
2 1/2 to 3 lb!. fryer, cut-up
1 can cream of chicken soup
Parsley
Layer vegetables in 4-quart, glass casserole!. Season!. Place chicken with thick edges to outside of dish on top of vegetables!. Cover with glass lid or plastic wrap!. Microwave on high 15 minutes!. Drain and turn chicken over!. Pour soup on top and recover!.
Microwave on simmer for 25 to 30 minutes, or until fork tender!. Let stand covered for 5 minutes!. Garnish with parsley!.

2 tbsp!. butter
1/2 tsp!. basil leaves
1/2 tsp!. paprika
1/4 tsp!. garlic powder
6 oz!. cream cheese, soft
21 1/2 oz!. cream of tomato soup
1 1/4 c!. milk
32 oz!. stewed tomatoes
Cook onion in butter until it is very soft and transparent; add basil, paprika, garlic powder, and cream cheese!. Cook until creamy!. Add remaining ingredients; stir vigorously!. Heat to desired temperatureWww@FoodAQ@Com

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut bite-size
1 1/2 Tbsp flour
2 tsp olive oil
1 lb sweet potatoes, peeled, cut bite-size
1 yellow pepper, cut bite-size
1 cup chopped onion
2 cups water
1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
2 1/2 Tbsp salt-free chili powder blend
1 Tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp dried oregano
1 cup frozen corn
1 can (16 oz) kidney beans, rinsed
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
PREPARATION
1!. Sprinkle chicken with flour; toss to coat!. Heat 11!?2 tsp oil in a nonstick Dutch oven!. Add chicken; saute 5 minutes until cooked through!. Remove!.
2!. Heat remaining 1!?2 tsp oil!. Add sweet potatoes, pepper and onion; cover and cook 7 minutes, stirring often, until lightly colored!.
3!. Add water, tomatoes, chili powder, garlic and oregano!. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 10 minutes until vegetables are almost tender!.
