Answers:
you are right if you do not preheat the oven to the correct temperature you could end up very sick, can your partner read!? if they can point out that the manufacturers would not waste time putting the cooking temperature and times on the box if it wasn't important if your partner cant read do the cooking yourself it will be a lot safer, of course you could have a devious partner that doesn't want to cook lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

Absolutely preheat your oven!. Most recipes rely on a preheated and hot oven in order to cook properly or to have some sort of characteristic form during the first 10 minutes of cooking!. A bread crust, forms during the initial stages of putting it in the oven!. It will have a gray color and will be misshapen if the oven wasn't hot enough initially!. Same with meats and cakes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always preheat and always will preheat !. !. !. when I was learning to cook, my grandmother warned me but I thought I knew everything!. Turns out she was right!. I did not preheat when I was baking a cake!. It was burnt on one side and still sticky on the other, then it fell!. I know a lot of people don't preheat but I have had horrible results when baking breads and cakes when I did not preheat the oven!. Now I have stuck a casserole in the oven without preheating but it doesn't have to form a crust or bake evenly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends!.

For roasting meats and veggies, it's not as much of a problem to not wait for preheating!.

For baked goods, it can create a problem in that the uneven baking temperatures will cause the leavening agents to not react properly with the rest of the dough to provide the right consistency and texture!.

Some energy-saving advocates say it isn't necessary to preheat for even baked goods, but if you want a consistent good product, preheat for baked goods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When the cooking instructions say cook at 350 for 20 minutes, If you don't preheat the oven then you are spending the first 10 minutes or so cooking the food at a much lower temperature!. The end product is under cooked food, or part frozen food!. Your partner is obviously not a very picky eater!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Things tend to cook unevenly if you don't preheat the oven, as the heating elements are on constantly until temperature is reached, causing 'burnt on the outside, soggy on the inside' syndrome!.
also, recipes use preheated oven timing for best results, as ovens heat at different speeds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If a product says "heat for 30 minutes on 350" the oven must be preheated to 350!.
If your friend just plops it in the oven that throws the whole timing off!.
It takes a good 10 minutes or more for an over to reach that temp!.
So the product would cook at very low temps first before reaching the maximum temp required!.
Not the right way to do it!.
Your right, he/she is wrong!.

because it ensures proper cooking as the oven takes a while to heat up so food will take longer to cook if from a cold oven however some foods can be cook from a cold oven, also a hot oven will seal the meat quicker rertaining juices on jointsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Its always important to preheat the oven, so the temperature becomes warm, stable & apropriate for the bake, or else it will collapse!.!.!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, preheat the oven evenly distributes the heat to where the food can cook more evenly!. If food is in cool oven some may settle down and not cook properly or evenly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with previous posts, pre-heating the oven ensures you get an even cooking process, along with the right amount of time!. Always pre-heat!!

it just give manufacturers more of an accurate cooking time because they don't need to include time for the oven to heat up first lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would recommend you order pizza on the night he's cooking!. It's not worth the risk !Www@FoodAQ@Com
