Refried beans have about 25-30% of your daily allowance of sodium per serving!. That's high!. Canned black beans have sodium too, but I'm pretty sure it's less!. You have to rinse them, of course!. The liquid is very salty!. If you had dried beans, that would be the healthiest, but it's hard to cook beans!.
Refried beans also have some lard in them!. It's flavorful but it adds some saturated fat!. Check the label, and see what the daily percentage is for saturated fat!.
I would say black beans are better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eating refried beans is like eating spoonfulls of grease!.
I definitely stick with black beans!. You can cook some low or no sodium canned beans down until they begin to fall apart with some tomato juice, garlic, onion, and cilantro then run them through the food processor to make something like refried beans, minus all the fat!.
Or you could make a black bean salsa with sweet corn, roasted chilies, chopped onion, cilantro and lime juice!.
With some brown rice and grilled veggies on a whole grain wrap, it's a complete meal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

OK, more grilled veggies, black or pinto beans taste wonderful, and try whole wheat tortillas instead of white!. also, use some white cheese instead of yellow (less salt and fat), if you must use cheese at all!. Fresh salsa is the best!. Very yummy!. Finally, make sure, above all else, to rinse the beans, if you are using them out of a can- less salt and fat that way too! When cooking the veggies and low fat meat, cook with water instead of oil, and go light on the seasoning!.

Definitely!!!
I like to mash 1/2 of the black beans, leave 1/2 whole, add garlic, jalapenos, a little cilantro, a couple tablespoons salsa and 1/2 tablespoon oil, s&p!.
So much better for you!!!
So, get fat free or whole wheat tortillas
The above recipe for black beans!.
Shredded lettuce!.
More salsa!!!
Sprigs of cilantro!.
Squeeze of lime, if you like!.
Fat free sour cream!.
Skip the cheese!. It is good w/out it!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beans are just beans, very similar nutritionally!. It depends how you cook them!. Refried beans are mixed with pork fat, spices, etc!. So cook some black beans in water with salt, use them instead; they'd be healthier, given the choice :) Add some fresh garlic and cilantro and you won't miss much flavor, either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well, refried beans usually contain a LOT of lard!.!.!. whether you use black or pinto beans doesn't really matter nutrition-wise!. Juse use chicken or veggie stock to thin the mashed beans out, rather than melted lard and you'll be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
of course they are healthier!. you can use any type of bean (pinto beans are great too), and it would be healthier than refried beans!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
black beans are much healthier, but refried beans taste soo much better! lol?Www@FoodAQ@Com
