What herbs can i put in my cottage Pie so it tastes how it does when you say get a packet of sauce or when you eat out!. it has that certain distinctive taste that i can't seem to recreate with the herbs I already use!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I would use Mixed Herbs, a dash of Lee'n'Perrins sauce and a crumbled stockcube!. Don't add too much additional fluid (there should be enough juice coming off the meat)!.
The packet stuff and even in a lot of restaurants, the pies are high in salt but I don't know if you would really want to recreate that one!.

If you want a nice variation - make up a chill con carne with the mince, tinned tomatos, chilli poweder, kidney beans and onion!.
Instead of topping with ordinary potato mash, try mashed sweet potato and sprinkle grated cheese over before bakingWww@FoodAQ@Com

try using a tin of chopped tomatoes, onion and italian seasoning and garlic, with a very small amount of chili powder and a dash of worcester sauce, season with salt and pepper and simmer till it goes to the right consistency, if you have a bottle of red wine opened add a dash for that wee bit extra something!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i make cottage pie regularly and the herbs i use are, thyme, rosemary(just a little bit) parsley and bay leaf!.!.honestly my cottage pie is great,every1 loves it,if you'd like my recipe just emailWww@FoodAQ@Com

Thyme and a little allspice- and a little splash of Worcestershire sauce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

also try adding a little bit of Marmite (if you're in the UK as I suspect it could be a problem to find anywhere else)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Thyme is the most important one and I also add paprika and mixed herbs too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use mixed herbs and try beef stock cubes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
