How dangerous is it to roast tomatoes on aluminum foil?!
I roasted tomatoes for a tomato soup recipe, and did it on aluminum foil to make cleanup easier!. After I was done, I remembered you're not supposed to cook tomatoes in an aluminum or other reactive pan!.
I'm wondering if there's any danger in going ahead and making the soup, or if I should toss them out!. This was my main crop of tomatoes for the year, so I really don't want to toss them unless there's a substantial risk for the wife and I, or our kids!.
Thanks in advance for any advice!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that you will find that its ok to use them but where it may be of concern is that the acid in the tomatoes may have reacted with the aluminium in the foil and may affect the taste but not the quality

i think what would happen is it might affect the taste of the tomatoes, but that rarely happens
we have aluminum pans in our school and we are prohibited on boiling anything acidic in it such as milk and tomatoes and vinegar!.
but because some people don't listen, they still do it sometimes!.
no one dies and no one gets sick even if some people do this!.
check your foil if there are any wholes as the acid might dissolve the aluminum!.if there is none thet it is most likely safe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think after-all, that, in order to avoid the mess, you can just use one pot for every partial preparation and that could be your soup pot!.
Besides, for every use backing paper seems to be safer, at least up to now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
