Question: When cooking meat, is it sanitary to use the same utensil throughout the cooking process!?
Should you grab a clean spoon, set of tongs, spatula, etc, as you cook, since the original utensil has bacteria from the raw meat on it!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
There are certain things that you cook where it is ok!.!.!.!.!.like ground beef because you stand there and cook and turn cook and turn and the utensil gets hot too and it kills the bacteria!. But if for instance you are cooking chicken in the oven and you started out using a utensil to put the chicken in the pan, then you should get a new one cause you wont be killing the bacteria!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you have been cutting raw meat, you should never use the same knife to slice anything else without thoroughly washing it first to kill off any bacteria, the same rule applies to chopping boards and prep!. surfaces!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, you should always use a new clean utensil because meat like chicken can give you salmonella if you arent sanitary with it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just to be safe I always clean the utensil after handling raw meat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
