Is it true that cake can't get moldy?!
I have heard that cake (as in a birthday cake, for example) cannot get moldy!. I feel like this isn't true but someone I know swears by this and I can't find any info to prove otherwise!. Does anyone know this to be true!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been decorating cakes for more than ten years, and they can definitely get moldy!. They can also get stale, or the milk used in the frosting can sour over time!. A cake can sit out about three days, as long as none of the fillings or icings are perishable!. A fondant-covered cake will stay moist longer than one that has not been covered in fondant!.
The best rule of thumb is to leave the cake out until it's been displayed and served for the event, then refrigerate or freeze the leftovers!. Cake can be frozen for quite a while as long as you wrap it up well!.!.!.the best way is to wrap it in plastic wrap and then cover that with foil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Trust me!.!.!.!.I have EXPERIENCED moldy cake before!! I bought a huge cake for my fiance's birthday, which we had left of the table in the box!.!.!.!.well, he took a piece to work, and did not eat it that day, and when he remembered it 2 days later,( it had been sitting on his desk in the tupperware container ) he opened it up and said that it looked just fine, so he starting digging in!. Well, he said he had eaten about half of it, when it started tasting a little weird!. So he flipped the cake over and it was molded on the bottom!.!.!.!.not alot!.!.!.!.but you could see the little black spores!.!.!.it was gross!! And of course he had to bring it home to SHOW me!!! LOL hope that helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Cake can indeed get moldy!. Perhaps you were misunderstanding!. A frosted cake that has never been cut will not get moldy as frosting is an airtight seal and there is no way for mold spores to access the cake!. That doesn't mean it will taste good forever, though!. Any custard or fruit fillings will ferment and go sour and the frosting itself will dry out and become nasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
cake can get moldy in next 2 or 3 days, it is really fast!. if it is already hard or dry and don't want to eat it to make it soft then it mean the cake will have moldy on it any minutes!. don't eat it, throw it away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yes it can get moldy lots of time it is eaten very fast so it does not have time to but if it sits around a week or more it will go moldy just like anything that has flour in itWww@FoodAQ@Com
Cake doesn't last long enough to get moldy around my house!. The sugar will help preserve it somewhat, but given time, cake will mold!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
he must eat it too fast for it to get moldy!.!.!.
