Very, very expired flour? ?!

Question: Very, very expired flour!? !?
It's kinda too late to buy any and I really need flour to make some crepes!. My mom has expired flour!. It expired on July 14 2005!. It's really old I know!. Can I still use it!? It has little tiny black dots though!. I can't always take it out!. Please help!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The date on flour is more of a "best before" date than an actual expiry date!. Flour will last until it's used if it's stored properly, unless it gets infested with bugs or weevils!. The fact that your flour has black dots in it concerns me though!. Sounds like some kind of bugs have gotten into it!. I wouldn't use it!.

Do you have any oatmeal!? If you have oatmeal you can make oat flour!. Put the oatmeal into the blender or the food processor and then put it through a sieve to get any large particles out and use the fine, ground portion in place of white flour!. You can do this in most recipes, except for bread because oat flour doesn't rise well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Um, I'm gonna say no!. Those black dots sounds like weevils - tiny bugs that get in flour!. Sorry - try a 24-hour store, or ask your neighbour for some flour - you can always return it later!Www@FoodAQ@Com

if there is little black specs or dots thats probably some sort of insect "POOP" or larvae carcasses!.toss it!!unless you really like those crepes!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
