Your in luck!. I bake from scratch, a lot, especially around the holidays!. Donuts, cookies, cinnamon rolls, you name it!. And yes, I do it the old fashioned way!. Let my dough rise, roll it out, punch it down, let rise again, and ect, ect, ect!. So, to answer your question, I will share with you a very easy and very good glaze for cinnamon rolls!.

1/4 cup of milk
1 tsp!. vanilla
2 cups of powdered sugar (you may need to add a bit more if you want a thicker icing)!.
Combine milk and vanilla in a medium saucepan and heat over low heat until warm!. Sift confectioners' sugar into milk mixture!. Whisk slowly, until well combined!. Remove the glaze from the heat and slowly spoon over your rolls!.

This is more of a glaze without the extra powdered sugar, but everyone loved it, said it wasn't so thick and unedible as the ones in the stores!. I've used the recipe for a while now, and it is indeed really good!. It's how cinnamon rolls used to be way back in the day!.!.!.!.!.

Oh, the answer to your other question, I personally never use cream cheese icing for 2 reasons, (1) a lot of people don't like cream cheese (2) It's too thick and sweet!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

My mother used to make delicious cinnamon rolls!. She frosted them with a syrup made from 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1/4 cup cream just before they were done!. Pour it over the top of the rolls and return them to the oven to let brown!. They are extra good if you use brown sugar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've done both a glaze and cream cheese frosting!. My favorite was the cream cheese!. It adds a richness and makes them special!. If you put it on when they are warm it gets melty and thins out like a glaze!. It is delicious!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ever try maple flavored !? Use the powdered sugar recipe and just add flavoring!. My mother couldn't live without it !Www@FoodAQ@Com

Creammmmmmmmm Cheese! Yummmm!Www@FoodAQ@Com

either one will be good, I prefer plain powdered sugar with a touch of milk and vanilla!.
