I need cute allergy safe food ideas for a Finding Nemo themed birthday party for a 2 year old. ?!
My sons birthday party is next weekend and he loves Nemo!. So we are doing a themed party with lots of food and snacks!. The issue is that our two little cousins that are going to be attending have food allergies!. The one is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts (and now possibly wheat as well) the other is allergic to egg and dairy!. Now the entire party is not going to be dairy, wheat, and egg free as there is going to be a lot of people in attendance BUT I want the kid themed items and snacks to be safe for both boys!. I am also doing a pinata but I have already worked out all of the fillings and they are safe!. The issue is sea, ocean, Nemo themed snacks and treats that are all peanut, tree nut, dairy, egg, and now wheat safe! Any advice or ideas would be appreciated!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Aquarium Gelatin
1 small box blue or green gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
24 gummy fish
1 cup whipped cream
Fish crackers (optional)
Make gelatin according to package directions!. When it's slightly cooled, divide it among six plastic cups!.
When gelatin is partially set, add three or more gummy fish to each cup!. Place cups in refrigerator for 2 hours, or until gelatin is firm!.
At serving time, top with whipped cream to form "surf!." Serve with fish crackers, if desired

I do not think you can find a snack that fits all those categories!. Unless its granola or something!.
My suggestion would be to plan two separate "allergy friendly" snacks!. Maybe the "Nemo orange" items could be nut/wheat free!. And "Dory Blue" items could be dairy/egg free!.

I wouldn't punish the rest of the party goers by making ALL the food allergy-safe!. And your son deserves a real Nemo cake (w/ wheat, milk, and nuts, if you so desire)!. Get some sorbet (dairy, wheat, egg free) and scoop the 2 cousins some of that instead of ice cream/cake!. You might also have them some cinnamon graham crackers and fresh fruit kabobs (grapes and melon on toothpicks) on-hand as well, if the wheat allergy is still only suspected!. Otherwise, I'm sure their mom takes appropriate snacks with her wherever they go!. Have a couple things, but leave the rest traditional!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
