Warm water would work more quickly!. The problem is, it would also increase the amount of time that food spends in the food temperature danger zone (70 - 140 degrees Fahrenheit)!. In that temperature zone, bacteria grows quite rapidly!. By defrosting in cool water (or in the refrigerator) you move the food from frozen to defrosted, but keep it under 70 degrees (ideally, you should keep food under 41 degrees until ready to cook)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always defrost any kind of meat I'm going to cook in cold water!. I also change the water every 30 minutes or so!. also add salt to the water it will take out impurities, defrosts quicker, and helps to tenderize!. Especially if you want to use the product the same day!. The salt will make the skin on the poultry crispier too!. I've tried it using warm water, but for starters the water only turns cold anyway, and I don't like what it does to the meat it looks like it's started to cook instead of thawing!. Best to thaw in cold!. also if your thawing something you don't need right away always leave it on the bottom part of your fridge where it's the coldest!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Warm water will also begin the cooking process of food, it will not taste as good!. For example you should never throw a cold steak on the broiler, you always wait until room temp!. So it's even worse if you take frozen food and immediatly put warm water on it!. Start off with cold and let it come down to room temp!. Warm food can pick up bacteria more easily which is why we keep food in fridges!. If you defrost food in warm water the outside of the food would get warmer a long time before the middle which could lead to bacteria forming!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
