Would an ordinary farmhouse fruit cake mature?!


Question: Would an ordinary farmhouse fruit cake mature!?
over the next couple of months or do I need to make a rich fruit cake, cherries, peal brandy etc!.

Yes, it keeps well and matures with age, especially if drizzled with rum or brandy - any spirits you like!.
I wrap mine in greaseproof paper and store in a tin!. Check it every few weeks, drizzle with spirits at intervals!. Happy eating!Www@FoodAQ@Com

we use Guinness in our fruit mix instead of water, then when cooked and cooled down piece the bottom and spoon over some more of the Guinness, then wrap up and leave for about 1mth or so!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

the alcohol helps to preserve it so only if you put in some brandy then it will keep otherwise it will probably just go mouldy!Www@FoodAQ@Com
