Self raising flour ok?!

Question: Self raising flour ok!?
is self raising an ok substitute for Cake flour!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
self raising flour is ok if you dont have plain!. my dads a chef, and he's brilliant at cakes, just use any flour! just remember to put some eggs in, they make it rise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No because "self rising" means that the flour has other ingredients like baking powder and salt already mixed into it!. Cake flour is lighter than regular all purpose flour!. Just use a little less all purpose!. If the recipe calls for 4 cups of cake flour then just use 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

My cookbook says for 1 cup of cake flour substitute it with 1 cup minus 2 tbsp all purpose flour!. So i wouldnt use the self rising flour!. There are alot of recipes you cant substitute self rising flour with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, but leave out the baking powder, soda, and salt!.!.!. they are already in the self rising flour!.
