No - you can't do this - the paper isn't meant to be a substitute for a muffin tin!. If you don't have a muffin tin, go to the store and look for the foil and paper cupcake liners - the foil is meant to bake free standing, and removed after baking - only leaving behind the paper!.
I honestly don't even know if they still sell the foil tins, but you can check the dollar store for cheap muffin tins, or go to wal mart, and I'm sure for under $10 you can get yourself a muffin tin!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's very, very possible for the paper cups to tip over on the cookie sheet!.
Another thing that will happen is the sides of the cup will flatten out, and the cupcakes will come out more like cookies or pancakes!. Muffin tins are best, and you can get them for between $7 - $10 at a grocery store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is better to use Muffin pan's !. If you use a cookie sheet you might find that the muffin cases won't hold the shape of the cupcakes well!. If you use a proper muffin pan they will hold the shape well !. But you can still use a cookie sheet if desperate!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You can do that, theres nothing "unsafe" about it!.
But it may make a mess when it bakes and the batter starts to rise and spreed it may run out of the cupcake papers!.
Try wrapping tin foil around the outside of them just so they can't spreed when they bake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can, but they'll spread without the muffin pan to hold the sides up!. It'll be a mess in your oven & you won't be able to eat much of them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think so, i think the muffin tins are so the mix doesn't spill out and make a mess, and hold em into place!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
The paper sides will spread out and your filling will run over if those cups are not in a muffin tin, sorry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The only way you might be able to do it is to use the foil cups, not the paper ones!. But not a real good ideaWww@FoodAQ@Com
NO! The batter will spread everywhere! You CAN use the foil cups safely on a cookie sheet, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
They will spread out quite a bit and look more like thick, small pancakes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
