2/3rds of a cup of rice is enough for two people!. 3/4 cup if you like massive quantities of rice!. 2/3 cup rice = 1 1/3 cup water!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
This makes 2 cups of cooked rice - enough for 2 people!.
Combine one cup rice and two cups of water in a saucepot and bring to a boil!. Clap a lid on it and turn the heat down to Low!. If you’re using a gas stove, that’s a little wispy flame!. If you’re using an electric stove, that’s like 2 clicks from Off!. Here’s the hardest part: resist the urge to lift the lid for 15 minutes!. Taste a forkful; it should be tender and there should be a wee bit of water remaining in the bottom of the pot!. Replace the lid and continue cooking for another 5 minutes!. Turn off the heat and allow the rice to sit on the burner until ready to serve!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

The directions should be on the side of the box or bag!. For instant white rice (5 minute rice) it's a 1 to 1 ratio (for example, 1 cup liquid and 1 cup rice)!.
For other rice that requires longer cooking, it's general a 2 to 1 ratio depending on the recipe (for example, 2 cups liquid and 1 cup rice)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I got this advice on Yahoo and have followed it successfully for couple of years now!. It's the same procedure I recall that a fellow student from Hong Kong gave me years ago when we lived in the same rooming house at school!.
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Steamed Long Grain White Rice
Put some rice in a pot!.
Rinse rice several times!.
Add water - at least one finger joint over rice level!.
Turn fire under pot on High!.
When water has bubbled away to top of rice, cover with tight lid and turn heat down to simmer!.
Simmer for 15 min!.
Turn-off heat and with lid on, allow rest undisturbed for awhile!.
Fluff rice!.
Serve!.
* For two persons use one cup rice and about 1 1/2 cup water
Use a tall pan with heavy bottom and a tight fitting lid!. For example, Revere Ware or any copper bottomed ware is fine!.

You usually use 2 parts water to 1 part rice!.
Or do it like this:

Place the rice on the stove with a tight fitting lid!. Heat on high until the rice has come to a boil, reduce heat to low and cook approx 20, or until the rice is tender!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
