I need to find a frosting recipe.?!

Question: I need to find a frosting recipe!.!?
I'm looking for a recipe for a butter cream type icing that's not so extremely sweet like the usual ones are!. An Asian friend of mine brought a cake to work one day that she had made and the icing was buttery but very mildly sweet and light!. I've lost contact with her and wish I had gotten her recipe!. I'm the type that will scrape off the icing on birthday cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes, etc!. because they are extremely sweet!. Anyone have a great recipe for me that won't put me into sugar shock!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You're describing a meringue buttercream!. Making one is a bit more involved than regular American buttercream, but it's got exactly the light, buttery taste that you're looking for!.

BUTTER CREAM ICING

Melt 1 1/2 cups butter!. Add with 2 tablespoons vanilla to 3 pounds (1 1/2 packages) powdered sugar!. Mix!. Add approximately 3/4 cup milk A LITTLE AT A TIME until frosting is thick enough to spread!. This frosts one large cake or about 150 cookies!.

CHOCOLATE BUTTER CREAM ICING:

Following directions for butter cream icing, except add 1 1/2 cups cocoa to melted butter!.

I love Cool Whip frosting!. You need to frost it & then serve immediately though!. In a mixing bowl, mix together Cool Whip & a packet of Sugar Free/Fat Free instant vanilla pudding mix with a little skim milk as needed!. Store in fridge!.

This faux frosting is very light & creamy without that sticky sweet of traditional frosting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
