How do I know which way the grain is on a steak?!
I know you are supposed to cut steak across the grain, but what is the grain how do I tell!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You'll be able to see streaks the same way you see streaks in wood grain!. However, if these are indiviudal steaks, you don't need to worry about it; you won't really be able to see it any way, as they have already been cut!. I'm assuming that your cutting indivdual steaks off the primary cut!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The most common steak( s) that fit into this category are "Flank" and "Skirt" steaks!.
As the above poster stated, you will see the lines running across the meat!.
After they're cooked, you cut them against the grain for tenderness!.
