Question: When making sugar cookies, should the egg and butter be room temperature!?
I was reading in a book I have about the importance of eggs and butter being room temperature in some recipes!.!. and noticed some of the recipes say they need to be room temp, but my sugar recipe does not!. Should I have them be room temp anyway, or no!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, some recipes as you may have noticed assume you know the rules and standard practices!. As you have learned Butter is best at room temperature!. (melted butter makes a whole different type of cookie it takes more flour so it comes out very hard!.) Eggs also are best at room temp this allows for a better mixing of the two!. I mix them together until the are very creamy!. do not rush this process!. recipes some times call for the two to be mixed until creamy some recipes assume you know this!. we all learn things and have our little tricks and techniques, then we assume when we share our recipes everyone else knows what we forget to write down!.
