Am I overcooking meat in the crockpot? It's dry.?!

Question: Am I overcooking meat in the crockpot!? It's dry!.!?
recently I've made a couple things and the meat was done and tender in a couple hours but was a little dry!. I assumed I cooked it too long!.
Today I'm making a big thing of stew and don't want to mess it up!. How long do you think it should be on low for!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Meat in the crockpot should be kept covered with liquid!. Check to see if you need to add more liquid while cooking!. I usually cook things for 7-8 hours on the crockpot, and nothing has ever been dryWww@FoodAQ@Com

Is the lid on, firmly in place!? also, there needs to be some liquid in the crockpot to make it cook right!. So, pour in a cup of water if you have to, but you can also use more flavorful things like chicken broth or canned tomatoes!. As long as there's some water in it, it will steam and that's how a slow cooker works!.

Slow cooker recipes usually take at least 4 hours (on high) or at most 10 hours (on low)!. If you're cooking a stew, put the meat, water/broth/seasonings, and any vegetables that either won't fall apart (like mushrooms) or you won't mind if they fall apart, like diced vegetables (onion, carrot, bell pepper, tomatoes)!. But if you want the vegetables to stay whole (like chunks of potatoes or carrots) don't put them in until the last 25 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've had this problem as well, you don't wanna cook it on "low" for a long period of time, unless it's like 10 hours while you're at work or overnight or whatever!.!. it can't be only on low for 4 hours because that's when you get the dry meat!.

If you can, start by cooking on high, and when the meat is halfway done, turn it on low for a few more hours (2-5 hrs!.)

and make sure you have plenty of liquid in the crock pot and that the meat is 100% defrosted, but not already cooked at all!. lol!.

Idk, I tried a bunch of different things when my meat came out dry, but because I tried many different things at once for fear of messing up the meal again, I'm not quite sure what the root source for my mistake(or yours) is, but I do know that one, if not all of those tips really helped me out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

hmm i have never had dry meat in crock pot!.
o you make sure it has plenty of broth!.
If anything its soo moist it falls apart!.I stick my roast in over night and let it cook til dinner the next day it melts in your mouth!.
But i do put plenty of beef broth or if doing chicken chicken broth with it!.
Should never be dry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The slower you cook meat the tender it is!. If you don't mind little spice add a can of jalapenos to your crock pot!. That will keep the meat from getting dry and add extra flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
