What's the best size round pans for making a double layer cake?!
Answers:
Well, most recipes call for either an 8 inch or a 9 inch, but I think 9 inch is most common!. Either one will work!. The 8 inch will give you a thicker layer while the 9 inch will give you a layer a little larger in diameter!. i usually use 9 inch pans and have the most luck with them!. Always make sure you grease and flour (thump out extra flour) before using, and make sure to check after the minimum amount of baking time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I prefer 8 inch pans because they make a nice thick cake so I have plenty of room to either cut the cake in half and have a 4 layer cake, or to trim the rounded part off the top cake and have a nice flat cake!.
However, follow the directions in your recipe and you should be just fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have both an 8 and 9 in pan!. But for a double layer I would go for the 8 in!. If you are using a box mix it works really well to make 2 layers of the 8 in!. They are nice and thick, and will look nice as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
if you want the cake to be unsupported (no dowels in the center of the cake) I wouldn't go any bigger than an 8 or 9 inch (which is usually 'traditional')Www@FoodAQ@Com
I always use my 9"- comes out perfect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
