Here is my recipe for lasagna
first make a meat sauce - chop a regular onion fairly finely and some garlic, some pepper or capsicum!. Put a pan on to heat add 1-2 tablespoons of oil and cook the above vegetables till soft
Add 500 grams or one pound of minced beef - get a good one not too much fat- brown it in the pan beside the vegetables
Add either 2 small or one large can of tomatoes or the equal in fresh and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and stir!. You can now add either some leftover wine or some beer or beef stock or water - half to one cup full and simmer till the meat sauce is reduced down and still a little bit runny - add some nice fresh chopped parsley, marjoram and basil or even use small amounts of dried - say half teaspoon of each
You can also add chopped mushrooms with the other vegetables if you all like them - say 1-2 cups full chopped
Now make your cheese sauce
Melt 4 tablespoons of butter and stir in 4 tablespoons of all purpose or plain flour and continue stirring until it cooks for about 2 minutes - don't let it brown it should still be butter coloured - carefully add a bit at time 2 cups of milk and keep stirring and cooking until it thickens - when cooked take off stove and add salt and pepper to taste and most important to the flavour of the whole thing is a good pinch of nutmeg - then add one cup of grated cheese and stir till melted If you have troubles with this sauce you can use packet one instead but dont forget the nutmeg
The noodles - I like to use the instant ones but you can also use the ones you cook in boiling water first - an ideal substitute I have found is to use lavash or mountain bread which is a rectangular bread about the size of a lasagne dish
Now to assembe - Grease or oil a lasagna dish and place layers of meat sauce, then noodles and cheese sauce - repeat again and finish with cheese sauce - sprinkle another cup of cheese over the sauce and put the lasagne in a moderate or medium oven for at least a half hour - you will know when its ready - its nice and brown and bubbly and smells divine
Serve it with a tossed green salad and garlic bread
Happy munching
PS you can also make this a vegetarian dish by adding lots of chopped mushrooms and some brown or red lentils instead of adding meat - so you also have another option for another meal
Tip - make a double quantity and freeze if you have freezer space - you can use large rectangular aluminium foil dishes with lids on them for baking and freezing it- but cook it from defrosted state if freezing first - take out the day before and defrost in the fridge and then cook as before Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its really not that hard!.!.just make it how its layed!.!.you can buy premade sauce & noodles, shredded mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese, beef then you can add your favorite spices like garlic or oregano to the sauce to make it taste better, you can even add a bit of sugar to give the sauce a sweet tangy taste!.!.

Then you just
Boil the noodles!.!.drain them when there done
Cook the beef

Then all you need to do is layer it in a pan when the noodles & beef are done!.!.

Start with the bottom layering it with noodles, then pour a very light spread even layer of sauce, then add the beef over the sauce

put another layer of noodles over the beef & spread ricotta/cottage cheese on that layer

then put another layer of noodles over the riccota/cottage cheese

once thats done add more beef spread over the last layer of noodles you just placed down

After that add one more layer of noodles then pour the sauce over the top & sprinkle with lots of mozzarella

I suggest preheating your oven 350 & then put it in for about & hour & check on it every so often!.!.

Im not a good cook but when I do this it always comes out Great! or at least eatable to me & its pretty easy! saves you the trouble of doing it from scratch =)

9 lasagna noodles
1 jar of pasta sauce
1 lb!. of ground beef
8 oz!. mozarella cheese
16 oz!. ricotta cheese
Parmesan/Romano Cheese (optional)

Boil the lasagna noodles in a very large pot!. You'll need 9 noodles per pan!. I usually prepare a dozen in case some of them rip!. That way I can be sure to use whole noodles!. Once the noodles are cooked, run cool water through the pot until it is safe enough that you can pull the noodles out of the pot with your hands!. You don't want to burn yourself!.

While the Noodles are cooking, brown the pound of ground beef in a large skillet!. You'll want to remove the cooked meat with a spoon with holes so that most of the fat will not go in the lasagna!.

Once you have all the ingredients prepared, you are ready to construct the lasagna!. The images above show this process step-by-step:

1!. Pour a thin coating of sauce into the non-stick lasagna pan!.
2!. Now, add a layer of noodles!.
3!. On top of the noodles, you'll want to add half the ricotta cheese, a layer of mozzarella, half the meat, and some more sauce!.
4!. Repeat Step 2!.
5!. Repeat Step 3!.
6!. Repeat Step 2!.
7!. Now, add some more sauce, and top it with some more mozzarella cheese!.
8!. Cover the pan with foil!. Be sure to use the shiny side of the foil on the inside!.
9!. Bake the lasagna at 350 degrees covered for one hour!.
10!. Allow the lasagna to cool, then slice it and enjoy!.
11!. The lasagna will taste even better the next day!. As I mentioned above, it only takes a few minutes longer to bake two at a time, so I highly recommend that you do!.
