Question: Halibut batter recipe please!!?
I'm looking for a tried and tested recipe for a fish batter!. I like the fairly thick, crispy batter that doesn't fall off when being fried!. Can somebody please help with a recipe!. Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
1 cup corn meal
1 cup flour
1tsp each salt and pepper
1Tblsp red pepper
1 bottle of premium beer
Combine dry ingredients first, then add beer to desired consistancy!.
Drink left overs!.
In separate bowl put 1 cup flour (dry)
put fish into dry flour, then dip into batter, then place into hot pan with 1/2 inch oil at 350 degrees turning once after 1 minute, or deep fryer!. till golden brown, about 3 minutes total time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would use flour, a little salt and pepper, a touch of cornflour and let it down to a thick liquid with a nice real ale or bitter - you could also use sparkling wine/water!.

make sure that the fish is dry the pat with seasoned flour; this will enable the batter to stick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
