What's the mildest hot pepper out there? ?!
The bigger, the better, cause I'm stuffing them!
I made a Mexican stuffed chili dish the other day using banana peppers and big hot red peppers!. I removed the seeds and ribs, fried them, removed the skins, stuffed them generously with a mix of goat cheese, oaxaca and manchego cheese, poured a fresh tomato/red onion/garlic sauce over them, topped with a sprinkle of more cheese, and baked them!.
They were probably one of the most delicious things we've ever eaten (no lie) but they were HOT!. I know that sounds insane because they are just banana peppers, but they were brutal!. And we are not wimps- we add cayenne to our chili until our guests weep!. Lol!. I think I may have missed some stray seeds/ribs at the top, but I still don't know why they were so darn hot!. We were suffering-but they were worth it!.
Are there any milder peppers out there!? Is there any way to tone these babies down!? Would jalapenos be better!?
Thanks, I really appreciate it :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just like Pablanos and the Banana, all peppers can vary in heat!. If you are unlucky enough to have a store who does not differentiate it is a big guess week to week!. Pablano and Banana can lite you up or be almost sweet, like jalapenos!. OK, I am a Southerner so it is more common here to have the degrees!.
Bananas are most often mild, almost always (so try again) and they have a very unique flavor nothing like a jalepeno, bell, or pablano!. If you swap out the pepper you will change your whole recipe!. It is like swapping chicken for fish!. I say give it another go and talk to your grocer or veggie guy!. They will be tickled someone takes interest in the produce, at least that is my experience!. My grocers almost talk my ear off once I ask a question!. I bet you could even get a sample so you know the heat!. And you know it is not so bad to have someone so willing to keep you informed about things you put in your body daily!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sometimes hot peppers and mild peppers get planted near each other like in a home garden and the bees cross pollinate them and you get hotter pepper than you expect!. I have eaten poblano, bell and cherry peppers and they are the mildest and they have sweet mild, medium and hot banana peppers!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Use the Scoville Scale as your guide!. It rates peppers according to how hot they are compared to each other!. Zero is the mildest and ten is the hottest!.
There's a quickie chart at

and I think you might find a more elaborate chart on Wikipedia if you search for "Scoville Scale"Www@FoodAQ@Com

use anaheim peppers for your chile reinos but to answer your question!. Bell peppers are the mildest chile pepper in the world!. Yes bell peppers and habanero or scotch bonnet peppers are all from the same family!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Try Pablano peppers instead, they have a little bite but no heat and they're perfect for stuffing!. I always use them for Rellenos!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
