There are no eggs in the house- how do I make my bread shiny and crusty on top?!

Question: There are no eggs in the house- how do I make my bread shiny and crusty on top!?
I know it's not essential, but I just love that shiny, glossy top!. I just made whole-wheat bread dough from scratch using my Kitchen Aid mixer, and since it's not something I do every day, I want it to turn out just perfect! Any suggestions!? (I don't have a car today and there are no stores nearby-rural area)

Use some milk, it will not be quite the same, but it will do!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For a softer deep golden brown crust, brush with softened butter!.
For a crisp crust, brush or spray lightly with water!.
For a soft tender crust, brush with milk!.

Hope one of these options helps!. Oh yeah, and these things must be put on BEFORE baking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rub some melted butter on top! I think that'll do the trick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

butter, cheese, or oilWww@FoodAQ@Com

use some cooking spray!. its just oil, but in a convenient dispenser!Www@FoodAQ@Com
