How to make fresh basil last longer?!

Question: How to make fresh basil last longer!?
I love cooking with fresh basil but it goes bad way too fast!. For me, it lasts about 5 or 6 days in the fridge before going bad!.

Any suggestions on how to extend its shelf life!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
5-6 days is it!. Take it out of the container when you get it home and wrap it in lightly dampened paper toweling!. and toss it in the crisper!. Spritz that napkin daily or wrap it in a new one each day!. When you see leaves looking like they want to be ick and gooey, snip them off!.

You can also out the bunch in a cup of water (like you would a bouquet of flowers) and put that in the fridge!. Whichever makes sense for you!.

ps - basil freezes!. It may get off colored, but it still is good and basily!. Flash freeze on a cookie sheet (perfectly dry and clean) and then put it in a ziploc --> freezer for 4-6 months no prob!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put in a container water (about 2 cm ) and put the bunch of fresh basil in!. keep it in the fridge, but every day or two cut the end tip of the stems!.
Another tip will be to put the leaves in an auto seal plastic bag, trying to keep all the air out, put it in the fridge!. But the problem is that every time you open the bag air will come in and the basil will began turning dark!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not sure you can make it last more than 6 days!. You could dry it out and it will last a lot longer!. I wash & dry mine then wrap it in a paper towel to keep it lasting longer fresh, but I still don't think it will go more than 6 days!. I've heard of wrapping celery in foil wrap to keep it crisp!.!.maybe the same technique will keep your basil fresher longer!? Never actually tried it tho!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Freeze it
If you have a vacum sealer all the better or use a zip lock bag seal it and remove as much air as possible (using a straw at the end suck anu seal while pulling straw out will do the trick) I keep all my fresh spices this way and they remain fresh until you need them!.

Best way is to put it in a wide mouth jar, pack basil down adding kosher salt as you layer it and then fill with olive oil!. Basil will turn dark and the flavor will infuse in the oil!. It lasts for years if kept in the refrigerator!. I grow basil and keep it that way!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Basil was not supposed to be stored in fridge!. Keep it somewhere cool, no direct light and heat and just damp only the root!. Then u could keep it at least same days in the fridge and fresher!. If the basil is fresh, you can keep it longer than 5~6days!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Make a pesto sauce!. That's what my mom does and she said it lasts longer and she uses it for everything!. Pasta is good with it!. I don't know the actually recipe for it but go to allrecipes!.com(my favorite food website) and type in pesto!.
And she also freezes it!.
